Child Care

Lansing United Church has developed and renovated its current space to address the need for local accessible child-care. Lansing designed, developed, constructed and equipped the facility.

Child Care Space
The main collaborator for the project was the City of Toronto planning department. Over the course of the design phase of the project, Lansing worked closely with City of Toronto Children’s Services to identify the type of classrooms and facilities to build. The child care space accommodates 72 children (20 infants, 20 toddlers and 32 pre-schoolers).

Amenities
The child care facility is contained on one floor of the building (approximately 7,700 sq. ft.). Access to the floor is provided by an elevator, stairs and a ramp for direct access for all strollers, including triple strollers.
In addition to dedicated playrooms for the children, the child care space has dedicated outdoor play areas for the children connected to their playrooms (infant play area – 754 sq. ft., toddler play area – 1,600 sq. ft. and pre-school play area – 1,655 sq. ft.).  There is also a park adjacent to the child care space.
