The very moment a person enters the worship space of Lansing United Church they are genuinely welcomed and
made to feel comfortable. The sanctuary was built in 1950 and was considered modern for its time in architectual
design. The chancel is a replica of the Hiroshima Arch and the sanctuary is home to eight creative and inspiring stained
glass windows exploring the theme “God’s Creations”. These vibrant displays of colour are enhanced by the morning sun,
making the worship space light and airy in nature. Lansing is truly an inspiring place in which to worship.
Lansing is wheel chair accessible and has the instrumentation necessary for the hearing impaired. Technology plays a major role in our living today and Sunday worship is no exception. At every Sunday worship service the hymns, prayers and other aspects of worship are projected onto a large screen for easy reading. The words that appear are often accompanied with spiritual graphics and or photographs, thus enriching the meaning of the printed word. Worship on Sunday has many Worship leaders. Participating in worship are Lansing’s Designated Lay Minister, Lansing’s Music Director, the Choir, the congregation and the Minister who each bring different perspectives to the worship moment. The celebration moment is a blend of traditional and contemporary worship styles which supports the blend of ages and cultures gathered for worship. Rev. Bryan Ransom’s experience, creativity and current Doctoral work are clearly evident in worship. His ministry style is challenging, sometimes unorthodox and experiential, relevant and current with today’s thinking while ministering to the spiritual yearnings of the soul. Lansing’s worship incorporates children and youth. Young people begin their time in worship with their family. After the children’s conversation time, young people leave for Sunday Class to continue their faith development. This time includes crafts, games, and play interwoven with the message of Christ, all taking place in a safe and secure space. Each staff person is subject to a vulnerable sector police check. If you have an infant, we do have a safe & secure nursery area staffed by an adult. If you feel uncomfortable about leaving your child in this secure area you are more than welcome to stay with your child or for your child to stay with you during the worship experience. Rev. Ransom is always happy to have children in worship. After worship, all are invited to stay for refreshments and casual conversation.
