Music & Choir Director - Svetlana GojevicWelcome to Svetlana, our new Music Director. Born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia, she began to play the piano at age 7 and music became her career. Life was difficult in the former communist Yugoslavia, and she made the difficult decision to immigrate to Canada in 1993, sadly having to leave behind her parents and brother. Once here, she continued to expand her music background, learning to play organ and other instruments and winning numerous awards, as well as raising her daughter. She became connected with the United Church and has been sharing her gift of music in Sunday worship for the past 16 years, both as a performer and Music Director at several United Churches in the Toronto area.

Her experience in administrative, organizational and exceptional interpersonal skills is clearly demonstrated in the completion of the daily, weekly and monthly demands of the position. Her pleasant personality makes one at ease in conversation and her willingness to assist in all aspects of the running of the church is greatly appreciated by the other staff and members of the congregation. A mother of 2 teenagers, she is an active volunteer in her community. |
