CONTRIBUTIONS

Actual food donations are greatfully received. As we are now serving more than 1,500 people per month due to the current recession, the need for non-perishable foods is even greater than in the recent past. Due to strict health regulations (as well as presentation to the clients using the food bank), we do request that any food donations follow these guidelines:

  1. Any items in "packaged containers" such as cereals, pasta, "kraft diner", rice, tea, coffee, dry soups, baking powders, cake mixes, jello mixes, other baking goods, etc. must be sealed and not opened in any way
  2. All donated food must not exceed the expiry date nor be beyond the "best before" date.
  3. Any canned items must be clean and within the expiry date, and not to appear to be showing signs of possible contamination such as bulging sides or lids
  4. Fresh meat products are not accepted as we cannot tell if they may have been frozen and thawed, nor how they may have been handled prior to the donation
  5. partially filled packages or containers of food products are not accepted.
SPECIFIC ITEMS NEEDED

  1. canned vegetables (kernal corn, peas, green beans - 398 ml or 14 oz size)
  2. canned fish (especially pink salmon, and tuna)
  3. canned protein beans (red kidney beans, chic peas)
  4. canned soups (Mushroom is the most popular, chicken noodle and vegetable plus meat soups)
